The Koori Unit implemented a cultural Employee Assistance Program during the COVID-19 pandemic, for access by Koori staff and Elders and Respected Persons. Koori staff now have a choice in terms of which service they would prefer to access.
The Koori Staff Network identified the need for increased organisational cultural awareness, safety and capability building across the Courts group. The Dhumba Murmuk Djerring Unit's (DMDU) recent appointment to Manager, Koori Cultural Strategy, will hold a critical role in the implementation of the Koori Employment Plan, leading the work to strengthen organisational cultural capability and cultural safety and overseeing Koori HR issues. Given the nature of the workload, the role sits within the DMDU to ensure strong cultural support, however it has commenced working closely with People and Culture across all jurisdictions.
